We have been dedicated to making our processes clearer, more accessible, and more responsive. Here's a look at our key achievements over the past year.
Enhanced Victim Services & Support
- Published the first-ever Inmate Handbook to clarify processes for incarcerated individuals and their families (Jun 2025). AP News Story, Inmate Handbook
- Began attending weekly release and intake days at the prison to provide individuals with information about the process (2024 & 2025).

Increased Public Access & Information

Stakeholder Engagement & Education
- Launched BOARDWalk, an interactive simulation of what it is like to be a Board Member, which we have shared with all AP&P regions, CCJJ, GOPB, DTS, DHRM, LFA, LRGC and many other partners (Jun 2025).
- Delivered educational presentations to our criminal justice partners including the Utah Sheriff's Association, Utah Prosecution Council, Utah Association of Counties - Prosecutors, Utah Gang Investigators Association, and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (Throughout 2025).
- Supported UDC's external educational efforts with presentations at the quarter Family Orientation and UDC's Citizen's Academy, and more (2024 & 2025).
- Increasing communication and education of our UDC colleagues with regular meetings with senior leadership, monthly meetings with case managers, and presentations to sex offense treatment providers and CHS staff (2024 & 2025).
- Continue to hold monthly outreach meetings with advocacy groups focused on incarcerated individuals (2024 & 2025).
- Provided multiple Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentations to various groups including the Youth Parole Authority (YPA) and the Utah State Bar (2024 & 2025).


Modernized Processes & Policies
- Convened a workgroup with AP&P to update and simplify parole conditions (Nov 2024 - Apr 2025).
- Initiated a comprehensive review of the pardon process to identify areas for improvement (Ongoing, began May 2025).
- Actively participated in the 2025 legislative session, providing data and expertise to lawmakers and community justice partners (Jan - March 2025).
